Dallas is comprised of several neighborhoods which serve many types of smaller communities. Preston Hollow and Highland Park are affluent neighborhoods which surround Southern Methodist University and cater to some of the wealthiest individuals in DFW. Uptown is a more affluent neighborhood also but is generally geared toward the bustling business district in and around the downtown area. South Dallas neighborhoods have a larger emphasis on arts and humanities. North Dallas is a thriving upper-middle class commerce driven area sprinkled with various income level neighborhoods. There are several ethnic neighborhoods in Dallas such as a strong Indian community in North East Dallas, a thriving Korean trade district in the North Central area and a variety of others. Each neighborhood offers a unique experience for dining, shopping and entertainment.

Sporting events are a big deal in Dallas; Enjoy a Stars hockey game or watch the Mavericks compete for the NBA playoffs. The city is full of entertainment, check out a concert at one of the clubs in Deep Ellum or attend a musical at Gexa Pavillion. The Texas State fair is held annually in Fair Park which includes rides, games, various unusual attractions, and a unique contest where almost any imaginable edible is fried and judged.
